Mr. K's Play of the Day for Saturday - October 29, 2022 Race 5: This $110K Allowance goes 1-1/16th on the grass. There is just enough speed in this race for me to zero in on deep closer Our Dream Rye'd who is making his second start of the meet for trainer Ian Wilkes. This More Than Ready colt is coming out of two straight Graded races where he finished 5th and 6th respectively. Today, he is dropping in class and picking up jockey Joel Rosario who is the best turf rider in the game. You should get the morning-line price of 6-1 due to this very competitive 12-horse field.
The Bet: $100 across the board on #6-OUR DREAM RYE'D
Results: Ran third. Cashed for $196
Mr. K's Longshot of the Day for Saturday - October 29, 2022 Race 9: The Fayette Stakes is the Feature race on this last day of the fall meet and goes 1-1/8th miles on the main track. King Fury had a very good showing last out in the G2-Lukas Classic where he ran third behind stars Hot Rod Charlie and Rich Strike. This 4-year-old Curlin colt is 0-3 this year but trainer Kenny McPeek has cleverly pointed him here where he faces much lesser foes. He is steadily improving and should be right there today at morning-line odds of 8-1.
The Bet: Race 9: $50 across the board on #5-KING FURY
Results: Ran 4th. Lost

FRIDAY - OCTOBER 28, 2022
Mr. K's Play of the Day for Friday - October 28, 2022 Race 8: The Valley View Stakes goes 1-1/16th miles on the grass and will have a full field of 12. Trainer Chad Brown has had a mediocre meet by his standards but I like his filly Dolce Zel this afternoon. Since March she has run in five Graded races with two gutsy wins, a second, and two thirds. She has been resting since her third place effort at Saratoga in August. It appears Chad has been pointing her for this race as she has won both times after a layoff. Irad Ortiz, Jr. will be traveling to Lexington for the mount which only adds to the appeal.
The Bet: Race 8: $100 across the board on #5-DOLCE ZEL
Results: SCRATCHED
Mr. K's Longshot of the Day for Friday - October 28, 2022 Race 5: This Allowance turf mile has a $110,000 purse. Trainer Joe Sharp has had an off meet but that changes today where he will send 2-year-old Buttons for her third start. She was last seen finishing 4th as the beaten favorite in a race at Kentucky Downs in early September. Now he adds blinks and puts Tyler Gaffalione in the saddle. She'll need to work out a rail trip but I suspect she'll be sent to the lead in hopes of wiring the field at 12-1 morning-line odds. The Bet: $50 across the board on #1-BUTTONS
Results: Hopped the start. Lost

Mr. K's Play of the Day for Thursday - October 27, 2022 Race 7: This $50K Claimer goes 1-1/16th on the main track. Trainer Wes Ward has been heating up and is winning at 27% this meet. Implementation drops from running an Allowance here at Kee on October 8th to the claiming ranks today. This horse has tons of speed and I look for jockey Joel Rosario to place this gelding up front then attempt to slow the pace down and wire the field. Shiekh Abdullah hasn't seen the winner's circle with this one since February. He'll have a square price when he crosses the wire first today.
The Bet: Race 7: $100 across the board on #2-IMPLEMENTATION
Results: Winner! Cashed for $912
Mr. K's Longshot of the Day for Thursday - October 27, 2022 Race 8: This one goes 1-1/8th miles on the grass. Trainer Todd Pletcher is winning at a 32% clip this meet and ships Insatiable in from the east coast where this filly has run five straight 5-1/2 furlong sprints at Monmouth. Pletcher is taking over training duties from Greg Sacco on this one where he believes this filly should be going long instead of short. I see jockey Luis Saez giving this daughter of Tapit a ground-saving trip before coming from behind in the stretch. Her 8-1 odds only add to the appeal.

____________________________________ WEDNESDAY - OCTOBER 26, 2022
Mr. K's Play of the Day for Wednesday - October 26, 2022 Race 8: This Maiden $40K goes 7 furlongs on the main track. Master Game was last seen running last of 12 in a turf race at Kentucky Downs in September coming off a June layoff. Trainer Mark Casse now switches this 3-year-old gelding back to the dirt and drops him into the claiming ranks wanting a photo no matter if he loses his runner. The addition of jockey Tyler Gaffalione combined with the two latest works suggests go-time!
The Bet: Race 8: $100 across the board on #3-MASTER GAME
Results: WINNER! Cashed for $640.
Mr. K's Longshot of the Day for Wednesday - October 26, 2022 Race 7: This $110K Allowance goes 1-1/8th miles on the grass. Trainer Jonathan Thomas has had a relatively quiet meet with 1 win in 10 starts. Today he brings Kitten's Mischief who ships in off a 3rd place finish going a mile at the Meadowlands in New Jersey. With a very good chance there is some moisture in the ground on Wednesday, this gelded son of Into Mischief should relish this Keeneland turf course under the very capable hands of French jockey Vincent Cheminaud especially at morning-line odds of 15-1.
The Bet: Race 7: $50 across the board on #1-KITTEN'S MISCHIEF
Results: Ran 3rd. Cashed for $100.50
Mr. K's Early PK5 and PK4 for Wednesday - October 26, 2022 50-cent part-wheel:
Mr. K's Play of the Day for Sunday - October 23, 2022 Race 8: This 1-1/8th mile route on the main track is for fillies and mares. Trainer John Ortiz only has one win here this meet but he's got a big shot to win number two on Sunday. Ice Orchid was last seen running 3rd after a troubled trip at Churchill in September. This was her first race after a February layoff where she ran 2nd to Secret Oath in the G3-Honeybee. I look for her to make a huge leap in her second start off the layoff at decent odds of 5-1 morning-line.
The Bet: Race 8: $100 across the board on #8-ICE ORCHID
Results: Winner! Cashed for $793.
Mr. K's Longshot of the Day for Sunday - October 23, 2022 Race 5: This Allowance goes 1-1/16th miles on the grass. Trainer Thomas Van Berg has been intermittently putting this primarily dirt running gelding on the grass but only has one win in ten attempts. I belief he thinks he has a grass runner on his hands but is waiting for just the right spot to pounce. Geroux stays on board when he very well could have had his pick of the litter. I like him at 12-1 morning-line odds.

Mr. K's Play of the Day for Saturday - October 22, 2022 Race 4: This 1-1/16 mile grass race kicks off the $3 All-Turf PK3. Trainer John Sadler comes east with his 4-year-old filly Park Avenue who was last seen finishing up the track in two straight Grade-II tries at Del Mar. Looking to right the ship, Sadler targeted this softer spot against seven lesser foes but is still wanting to grab the winning portion of this giant $140,000 purse.
The Bet: Race 4: $100 across the board on #6-PARK AVENUE
Results: Cashed for $144
Mr. K's Longshot of the Day for Saturday - October 22, 2022 Race 8: My price-play today is Higginson in this 1-1/8 mile dirt route. Trainer Brad Cox is heating up as he usually does this time of year. This 3-year-old Curlin colt is coming off a maiden victory going a mile at Churchill. Now he stretches his legs even further in his second start. That's when the breeding kicks in. I like my chances at 10-1 morning-line odds.

Mr. K's Play of the Day for Friday - October 21, 2022 Race 10: Today's finale goes 1-1/8 miles on the grass for fillies and mares. Trainer Graham Motion has been dominating this meet and today he starts Mesaoria off a 10- month layoff for owner RMJ Stables. She has been working well at Motion's Fair Hill training center and he puts leading jockey Johnny V in the saddle. I look for her to get the trip at a fair price of 6-1.
The Bet: Race 10: $100 across the board on #5-MESAORIA
Results: Ran 3rd. Cashed for $166
Mr. K's Longshot of the Day for Friday - October 21, 2022 Race 6: This one goes 6 furlongs on the main track for fillies and mares. Arlyne's Crown was last seen getting passed at the wire going a mile at Kentucky Downs in September. She may be the fastest out of the gate in this full field of twelve. I like her post and the cutback after going two straight races at route distances. Give me the 10-1 morning-line all day long.

___________________________________ THURSDAY - OCTOBER 20, 2022
Mr. K's Play of the Day for Thursday - October 20, 2022 Race 7: This 1-1/16 mile Allowance goes on the turf and features a full field of twelve. Simply put, I'm riding the hot hand of trainer Graham Motion who has 4 wins with 8 starters this meet. Bipartisanship draws the outside post where the air is fresh and clear. This filly is making her first start after a March layoff. Look for pilot Luis Saez to wait patiently and make one stretch run for the win.
The Bet: Race 7: $100 across the board on #12-BIPARTISANSHIP
Mr. K's Longshot of the Day for Thursday - October 20, 2022 Race 9: Today's finale goes 1-1/16 miles on the main track for 2-year-old fillies. Small barn trainer Matt Shirer starts Taxed who had a rough trip in her September debut at Churchill where she finished 7th in a 12-horse field. Shirer makes a jockey change and gives a leg up to Tyler Gaffalione and makes an equipment change adding blinks. I look for these subtle changes to make a huge difference in her performance today. I'll take a shot at 10-1 morning-line odds.

Mr. K's Play of the Day for Wednesday - October 19, 2022 Race 4: This 6-furlong sprint on the main track is for non-winners of two. Zap Motion was seen a mere 13 days ago where he finished 11th in an Allowance $110K. Not sure why trainer Jonathan Thomas entered him so far above his class grade but now he's back on short rest in this $20K claimer. Thomas has all the good numbers making this move. The one to note is that he puts jockey Luis Saez in the saddle where the jockey/trainer combo wins at 38%. Good enough for me.
The Bet: Race 4: $100 across the board on #9-ZAP MOTION Results: Ran 5th. Lost
Mr. K's Longshot of the Day for Wednesday - October 19, 2022 Race 8: Today's finale is 5-1/2 furlong turf sprint for fillies and mares. There are some heavy hitters in here for trainers Cox, Walsh and Ward but I'm pointing to the James DiVito trained Kant Believe It. This filly had two good starts in 2021 before making her 2022 debut at Churchill in December where she was eased finally crossing the line 55 lengths behind the winner. She was the beaten favorite that day which tells me something was amiss during the race or maybe she simply didn't feel well that day. I look for a nice comeback at juicy morning-line odds of 12-1.

__________________________________ SUNDAY - OCTOBER 16, 2022
Mr. K's Play of the Day for Sunday - October 16, 2022 Race 3: This one goes 1-1/8th miles on the main track for maidens. Brad Cox sends Maasai Warrior to post for his second start after a March layoff. He drops this 0-for-5 colt in for a $50,000 tag where this move produces 37% winners for Cox. Geroux stays in the saddle which only adds to the appeal.
The Bet: Race 3: $100 across the board on #3-MAASAI WARRIOR
Results: Ran a barely involved third. Cashed for $120
Mr. K's Longshot of the Day for Sunday - October 16, 2022 Race 5: This 5-1/2 furlong turf sprint has a full field of 12. CHAOS ALERT! So I'm going with a long price play in Badgeball for Greg Foley. In his last outing on the dirt at Churchill, he was banged around at the start and never could recover. Now Foley moves him to the turf and adds Brian Hernandez in the irons where the combo wins at 22%. I am loving the 20-1 morning-line odds.

___________________________________ SATURDAY - OCTOBER 15, 2022
Mr. K's Play of the Day for Saturday - October 15, 2022 Race 5: This Allowance goes 1-1/16th miles on the grass. Trainer Mike Maker has had a so-so meet so far but I like his 7-year-old Megacity in the final leg of the early PK5 today. He didn't take to the Kentucky Downs course last out which will certainly boost his price today. He will try to wire the field which is why Maker made a jockey change to Luis Saez who is the best in the biz at doing just that. Look for #9-Mr. Wireless to be rallying from the back of the pack to complete a strong exacta.
The Bet: Race 5: $50 across the board on #1-MEGACITY. $20 EXACTA BOX 1-9.

Mr. K's Longshot of the Day for Saturday - October 15, 2022 Race 2: The second half of the double is a grass mile. Trainer Wayne "The Cat-Man" Catalano has had a spectacular meet thus far so I'm pointing to 10-1 shot Iconicus. He had a good effort last out at Kentucky Downs but today this 2-year-old colt will stretch his legs going a route distance. He will be forgotten about on the tote with some heavy hitters showing up in this field of 12.
The Bet: Race 2: $50 across the board on #9-ICONICUS

Mr. K's Play of the Day for Friday - October 14, 2022 Race 8: When Mr. B & Mr. K agree on their best bet then you may want to look elsewhere. In this 6-furlong sprint, Brad Cox starts a 3-year-old colt named Strobe. He debuted back on Derby Day ( I was there ) with a four length victory in a $121K Maiden Special but was given the summer off for reasons unknown. Now he makes his second start in a field of twelve where he'll break from the open air outside box where the air is fresh and clear (Marty McGee). He'll have to break well under jockey Florent Geroux and if he does that may be all she wrote.
The Bet: $50 across the board on #12-STROBE
Results: Winner! Cashed for $187
Mr. K's Longshot of the Day for Friday - October 14, 2022 Race 4: This $20K Claimer goes 7 furlongs on the main track. Not Yet Charlie is making his second start for trainer Mike Maker since he claimed him up at Saratoga for $25K back in August. Maker tried him on the grass at Kentucky Downs finishing 10th in an Allowance $50K. Now he's back against easier company where he gets the services of Tyler Gaffalione. I look for a strong effort at 15-1 morning-line odds.

Mr. K's Play of the Day for Thursday - October 13, 2022 Race 4: This $25K Claimer is low-level by Keeneland standards but that didn't stop trainer Eddie Kenneally from entering Real News in the lowest tag of his career. This 6-year-old gelding has run 17 of his 19 lifetime starts on the grass. Today, he is making a surface switch going his first distance of 7 furlongs. If his works are any indication, Kenneally will instruct pilot Luis Saez to go for the lead and try to wire the field. I look for him to do just that.
The Bet: Race 4: $50 across the board on #1-REAL NEWS
Results: More like Bad News. Lost.
Mr. K's Longshot of the Day for Thursday - October 13, 2022 Race 9: This turf mile is just what the doctor ordered for Toeris who is making her first start after a year-long layoff. Mark Casse took over for California-based trainer Dan Blacker and the works tell me this daughter of Tourist is ready to make her first start of 2022 a winning one for Team Valor. She gets jockey Tyler Gaffalione at appealing morning-line odds of 10-1.
The Bet: Race 9: $50 across the board on #8-TOERIS

Mr. K's Play of the Day for Wednesday - October 12, 2022 Race 6: This 7-furlong sprint on the main track is for 2-year-old fillies. I'm firing on the Brad Cox-trained filly The Alys Look. This daughter of Connect has an eye-popping work pattern that includes a 1/108 bullet on August 19th at CD. She was just a $60K purchase at last year's Keeneland September sale which pales in comparison to six others in this field that sold for over $100K. The sharps will know if she's live so watch the Tote and hope to get 4-1 or better off the 6-1 morning-line. Cox puts Geroux in the saddle which only adds to the appeal.
The Bet: Race 6: $50 across the board on #11-THE ALYS LOOK
Results: The Aly Look ran third. Cashed for $99.50
Mr. K's Longshot of the Day for Wednesday - October 12, 2022 Race 8: Today's finale goes a mile on the grass for non-winners of two. Bill Mott brings Coleridge to Lexington off a January layoff where he cruised to a 3-length victory on the turf. Now he makes the surface-switch where this son of Uncle Mo should relish this mile distance. Irad Ortiz takes the mount who already has 3 wins from 11 mounts this past weekend. I love him at 12-1 morning-line odds even though I anticipate he'll go off at single digits.
The Bet: Race 8: $50 across the board on #7-Coleridge
Results: Needed Coleridge for a $15K PK5 but it was not to be. And to make it even worse, he finished 4th.

____________________________________________ SUNDAY - OCTOBER 9, 2022
Mr. K's Play of the Day for Sunday - October 9, 2022 Race 4: This one goes 6-furlongs on the main track. Paulo Lobo starts Center Aisle after a long May layoff. In her two starts this year, she had poor efforts in Grade 1's which led to the reset. She was sharpened with six works since September. This work pattern tells me that she's ready to return to the winner's circle in this fall comeback.
The Bet: Race 4: $50 across the board on #2-CENTER AISLE
Results: Winner! Center Aisle took care of business for the win. Cashed for $355.50
Mr. K's Longshot of the Day for Sunday - October 9, 2022 Race 8: The Castle & Key Bourbon Stakes goes 1-1/16th on the lawn. The "Cat-Man" Wayne Catalano starts Andthewinneris who broke his maiden at first asking right here at Keeneland in a 5-1/2 furlong sprint back in April. He was the beaten favorite last out at Saratoga in his first effort going two turns. I like horses in their second two-turn try and Prat stays in the saddle which adds to the appeal at 10-1 morning-line odds.
The Bet: Race 8: $50 across the board on #12-ANDTHEWINNERIS
Results: Winner! Andthewinneris got bet down to 4-1 and rallied in the stretch and powered home for the win setting a stakes record on the turf course. Cashed for $506

Mr. K's Play of the Day for Saturday - October 8, 2022 Race 3: This $30K Claimer goes 7-furlongs on the main track. Big Java has been making the rounds in his six starts going from Oaklawn to Churchill then all the way to Emerald Downs in Washington state in August. Now this son of Exaggerator is back in Kentucky and drops to his lowest class level since his maiden win. His latest works show that he's developed some speed for this cutback in distance. He should give your pocketbook a jolt it needs for the remaining seven races on the card.
The Bet: Race 3: $50 across the board on #7-BIG JAVA
Results: Ran 2nd. Cashed for $185.50
Mr. K's Longshot of the Day for Saturday - October 8, 2022 Race 9: The Breeders' Futurity is a Win and You're In for the BC Juvenile in four weeks. Brendan Walsh brings Good Heart in for his second start after breaking his maiden on first asking at Kentucky Downs going a mile on the grass. Now he'll need to step up his game going 1/16th longer against 13 strong 2-year-olds all vying for a spot on the Derby trail. Tyler Gaffalione takes the mount on this son of relatively unknown sire Good Samaritan. I like him at odds of 20-1.
The Bet: Race 9: $50 across the board on #12-GOOD HEART

Mr. K's Play of the Day for Friday - October 7, 2022 Race 5: This Allowance $110K for fillies is for non-winners other than a maiden and goes 7 furlongs on the main track. Trainer Danny Peitz brings a daughter of Gun Runner named Beguine who was last seen running up the track in the Black Eyed Susan at Pimlico on May 20th. Her workout pattern since consists of a chamber full of bullets and it appears this gal is back on form. As we know, Gun Runners get better with age. I am banking on Beguine loving her first start late in her 3-year-old career.
The Bet: Race 5: $50 across the board on #9-BEGUINE
Results: Finished 5th. Loss of $150
Mr. K's Longshot of the Day for Friday - October 7, 2022 Race 9: Today's feature is the G1-Alcibiades going 1-1/16th miles on the main track. This full field of 14 will ultimately go to the filly with the best trip and stamina. Brad Cox has a single entry in Chop Chop who is undefeated in 2 starts which were both on the grass. Not only is Cox making a surface switch, he must believe this is the 2-year-old that will take him to the BC Juvenile Fillies back here at Kee in November. He makes a jockey change to Joel Rosario where the J/T combo wins at 29%. And even better, Cox wins at 32% going turf to dirt. Count Count me in.
The Bet: Race 9: $50 across the board on #2-CHOP CHOP
Results: Finish 2nd by a nose. Cashed for $354
