Mr. K's PLAY OF THE DAY FOR FRIDAY, APRIL 28, 2017

Race 3: This $10K Claimer is about as cheap as it gets at Keeneland. This 6-furlong sprint on the dirt should be a cakewalk for Special Jo who shipped over from Oaklawn and is coming off a three-race win streak. Look for hot jock Bravo to extend the streak to 4 in a row today.

THE BET: Race 3: $300 to win on #5-Special Jo.

RESULTS:

Mr. K's LONGSHOT OF THE DAY FOR FRIDAY, APRIL 28, 2017

Race 9: This is the Feature which is the 56th running of the Bewitch Stakes that goes 1-1/2 miles on the grass. Trainer Roger Attfield hasn't hit the board in his 12 starts at Keeneland this meet but before he crawls back into his igloo, he's going to go out in style with Dyna's Recoleta. This Dynaformer mare hasn't been on the track since a 3rd place finish at Tampa back in January. Now Attfield feels confident enough to pop her into a Grade III after the long layoff which is a signal to me that something is up. Look for super-grass jock Jose Lezcano to come through for Mr. K at 12-1 morning-line odds.

THE BET: Race 9: $100 across the board on #3-Dyna's Recoleta

RESULTS:

Mr. K's PLAY OF THE DAY FOR THURSDAY, APRIL 27, 2017

Race 4: This is a turf-mile where trainer George Arnold brings La Manta Gris over from Churchill to make her first start of the year. This daughter of Lemon Drop Kid had a tough time in her first three routes but I believe Arnold has settled in on today's distance as the best chance to break her maiden.

THE BET: Race 4: $50 across the board on #2-La Manta Gris.

RESULTS: Of course, La Manta Gris didn't start running until mid-stretch finishing 4th. Loss of $150

Mr. K's LONGSHOT OF THE DAY FOR THURSDAY, APRIL 27, 2017

Race 8: This goes 1-1/8th on the grass for older horses. Trainer Mike Lauer ships in Awesome Thought from Oaklawn where he is going dirt to turf. This 5-year-old gelding is coming off his best lifetime Beyer of 87 and a second place effort on dirt. Lauer is more of a turf trainer where he wins at 24% so look for this son of Lemon Drop Kid to excel today at 15-1 morning-line odds.

THE BET: Race 8: $20 across the board on #7-Awesome Thought.

RESULTS: Loss of $60.

Mr. K's EARLY PICK-4 OF THE DAY FOR THURSDAY, APRIL 27, 2017

Race 5: 6-7-9               Winner: 7

Total: $216

RESULTS: Winner, but a loser. The PK4 paid a whopping $47.30

Mr. K's LATE PICK-4 OF THE DAY FOR THURSDAY, APRIL 27, 2017

50-cent PK4 part-wheel:

Race 6: 1-2-3-5-6-7-8-9 Winner: 2

Race 7: 3-5-6-7              Winner: 7

Race 8: 1-3-5-7-11         Winner: 1

Race 9: 8                        Winner: 8

Total: $80

RESULTS: Winner, but a loser. The PK4 paid $75.15.

Mr. K's PLAY OF THE DAY FOR WEDNESDAY, APRIL 26, 2017

Race 4: Picking Maiden firsters going 4-1/2 furlongs is tough but today I'm eyeing a price from the 1-post in a race usually dominated by Wes Ward-trained horses. Steve Asmussen's barn is about as cold as you can get which is why I believe he thinks this is an easy spot for his first-timer. This $200K purchase is bred for bigger and better things down the road and today he'll flip the ignition switch.

THE BET: Race 4: $50 across the board on #1-Copper Bullet.

RESULTS: Copper Bullet ran a strong second. Bet $150, cashed for $150. Break even.

Mr. K's LONGSHOT PLAY OF THE DAY FOR WEDNESDAY, APRIL 26, 2017

Race 8: The last race on humpday goes 6-furlongs on the dirt. Love Me in Malibu is too obvious of a bet here so I'm looking at a Wes Ward-trained firster Overhold. Whenever Wes puts a horse in against others with multiple starts, you know he has confidence in a good effort. She has 10 works showing in the form with some great gate breezes. And let me introduce you to jockey Arny Fontanez who is only 2 for 3 this year and is 6 for 12 when combined with Ward. This will be his first mount ever at Keeneland.

THE BET: Race 8: $20 across the board on #9-Overhold.

RESULTS: Poor effort. Loss of $60.

Mr. K's EARLY PICK-4 OF THE DAY FOR WEDNESDAY, APRIL 26, 2017

50-cent PK4 part-wheel:

Race 2: 6-8            Winner: 6

Race 3: ALL (7)      Winner: 6

Race 4: 1-7-11-12  Winner: 12

Race 5: 1-2-3-4-8  Winner: 4

Total: $140

RESULTS: Winner but a loser. Chalk PK4 paid $25.05

Mr. K's LATE PICK-4 OF THE DAY FOR WEDNESDAY, APRIL 26, 2017

50-cent PK4 part-wheel:

Race 5: 1-2-3-4-8       Winner: 4

Race 6: 1-3-6-8-9-12  Winner: 1

Race 7: 2-3-4-5-7      Winner: 2

Race 8: 3-6-9              Fourth: 3

Total: $225

RESULTS: Loss of $225.

Mr. K's PLAY OF THE DAY FOR SUNDAY, APRIL 23, 2017

Race 6: This tough turf-mile has a field of 10 which should give me some added tote-value for my best bet today. Trainer Mark Casse has Victory to Victory making her first start of the year after a brutal three-race campaign at the age of 2. She last ran in the Grade I - Natalma Stakes at Woodbine where she actually broke her maiden by over two lengths in a field of 14. This filly could have he talent to make a run at the Breeders' Cup in the fall and it all starts here. Jockey Florent Geroux has begun to pick it up this week so hopefully his guidance will help overcome a sometimes inhibiting one-post.

THE BET: Race 6: $50 across the board on #1-Victory to Victory.

RESULTS: Winner! Victory to Victory romped. Looking at a bright future for this filly. Bet $150, cashed for $210.

Mr. K's LONGSHOT OF THE DAY FOR SUNDAY, APRIL 23, 2017

Race 8: I know what you're saying. Is Mr. K stretching a bit by picking a 30-1 shot? Maybe a bit but I like what I see here in this 5-1/2 furlong turf-sprint. Wagon Boss is making his third start off the layoff. The reason why his morning-line odds are so high is because he was rained off the turf in his last and ran third on a sloppy dirt track as the second choice on the board. Trainer Ignacio Correas is showing his confidence by yet another jump-up in class as well as the cutback in distance. The 4-post and addition of Paco Lopez on adds to the appeal.

THE BET: Race 8: $20 across the board on $4-Wagon Boss.

RESULTS: Sniffed mid-back for most of the race. Loss of $60.

Mr. K's EARLY PICK-4 OF THE DAY FOR SUNDAY, APRIL 23, 2017

50-cent PK4 part-wheel:

Race 2: 4-6-8            Third: 4

Race 3: 1-2-4-6-8-9   Winner: 2

Race 4: 3-4-6-7         Second: 4

Race 5: 2-4-5-10       Third: 2

Total: $144

RESULTS: Loss of $144

Mr. K's LATE PICK-4 OF THE DAY FOR SUNDAY, APRIL 23, 2017

50-cent PK4 part-wheel:

Race 6: 1-7-8                     Winner: 1

Race 7: ALL(6)                   Winner: 1

Race 8: 1-4-5-8-10-11-12  Winner: 5

Race 9: 6                            Seventh: 6

Total: $63

RESULTS: Loss of $63

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Mr. K's PLAY OF THE DAY FOR SATURDAY, APRIL 22, 2017

Race 6: Trainer Brian Lynch is winning at 23% this meet and he looks to continue his success with his colt Meantime. Meantime is lightly raced with two under his belt and should be primed to break his maiden even if today turns out to be an off-track. Look for this son of Shackleford to relish the mud and edge the six other contenders this afternoon.

THE BET: Race 6: $50 across the board on #7-Meantime.

RESULTS: Winner! Meantime coasted to an 8-lenth victory. Bet $150, cashed for $202.50

Mr. K's LONGSHOT OF THE DAY FOR SATURDAY, APRIL 22, 2017

Race 5: I am banking that Race 5 will come off the turf today. Belle Hill is making her 2017 debut where she'll face some softer competition than previous races. My only worry is that she's logged some serious miles in her travels to Kentucky and she might not be ready to fire off the long layoff. Worth a shot though at 8-1.

THE BET: Race 6: $20 across the board on #4-Belle Hill.

RESULTS: Belle Hill had the lead in the stretch but was swallowed up. Los of $60.

Mr. K's EARLY PICK-4 OF THE DAY FOR SATURDAY, APRIL 22, 2017

50-cent PK4 part-wheel:

Race 2: 1-2-3-4-5-7 Winner: 7

Race 3: 1-3-5-6       Winner: 3

Race 4: 1-2-3-4-5    Winner: 5

Race 5: 4-6             Winner: 6

Total: $120

RESULTS: Winner! Bet $120, cashed for $158.30

Mr. K's LATE PICK-4 OF THE DAY FOR SATURDAY, APRIL 22, 2017

50-cent PK4 part-wheel:

Race 7: 1-3-5-6-7     Winner: 5

Race 8: 2-3-4-5-6-7 Winner: 6

Race 9: 1-3-4-6        Winner: 4

Race 10: 2-7            Winner: 2

Total: $160

RESULTS: Winner, but a loser. The PK4 paid a measly $98.90

Mr. K's PLAY OF THE DAY FOR FRIDAY, APRIL 21, 2017

Race 7: Trainer Jordan Blair is relatively unknown in Lexington. This is his first start of the meet at Keeneland and he is looking to take advantage with Gorse. This Tampa runner is going turf to dirt where this son of Eskendereya will go against winners after coming off a 7-length victory on the grass. Rosario will take this 3-year-old to the front and never look back.

THE BET: Race 7:  $50 across the board on #3-Gorse.

RESULTS: Gorse broke poorly and bounced off the rail in the first three jumps and could not recover. Loss of $150.

Mr. K's LONGSHOT OF THE DAY FOR FRIDAY, APRIL 21, 2017

Race 3: My 5-1/2 furlong venture went awry yesterday so I'll take another stab at the same conditions today. This Presque Isle gelding makes his 2017 debut with a step up in class and a rider change to Johnny V. This horse is busting out of his skin in the mornings and the 8-1 morning-line odds only adds to his appeal.

THE BET: Race 3: $20 across the board on #3-Choctaw Chuck.

RESULTS: SCRATCHED - No Bet.

Mr. K's EARLY PICK-4 OF THE DAY FOR FRIDAY, APRIL 21, 2017

50-cent PK4 part-wheel:

Race 2: 2-3-5-6               Winner: 2

Race 3: 2-6-7-8-9-10-11  Winner: 8

Race 4: 2-3-4-5-6            Winner: 5

Race 5: 9                         Fifth: 9

Total: $70

RESULTS: Loss of $70.

Mr. K's LATE PICK-4 OF THE DAY FOR FRIDAY, APRIL 21, 2017

50-cent PK4 part-wheel:

Race 7: ALL (8)          Winner: 6

Race 8: 1-2-3-6-9-10 Second: 6

Race 9: 1-2-5             Winner: 5

Race 10: 8-9              Second: 9

Total: $144

RESULTS: Loss of $144.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Mr. K's PLAY OF THE DAY FOR THURSDAY, APRIL 20, 2017

Race 6: With some short fields Thursday, I'm looking for some value in this 9-horse sprint going 6-furlongs on the dirt. Todd Pletcher's Coal Front is making his debut  Not certain why it took so long to get this $575,000 colt to the track, but his works show that he'll likely be ready to fire with 33% jock Castellano piloting him today.

THE BET: Race 6: $50 across the board on #9-Coal Front.

RESULTS: Winner! Bet $150, cashed for $270.

Mr. K's LONGSHOT OF THE DAY FOR THURSDAY, APRIL 20, 2017

Race 5: 5-1/2 furlong turf-sprints are not necessarily my specialty but trainer Ingrid Mason brings Seven Forty Seven from Arkansas where he's coming off a 5th place stakes finish on the dirt. Now with some rest, Mason wants to take a shot on the grass where this son of Tiz Wonderful is likely to excel. The 15-1 morning-line odds are enough to attract me to this gelding today.

THE BET: Race 5: $20 across the board on #9-Seven Forty Seven.

RESULTS: Tried but toiled. Loss of $60.

Mr. K's EARLY PICK-4 OF THE DAY FOR THURSDAY, APRIL 20, 2017

50-cent PK4 part-wheel:

Race 2: 2-3-5-8 Winner: 2

Race 3: 2-3-4-9 Winner: 3

Race 4: 3-5-9    Winner: 3

Race 5: 5-9-11  Third: 7

Total: $72

RESULTS: Loss of $72

Mr. K's LATE PICK-4 OF THE DAY FOR THURSDAY, APRIL 20, 2017

50-cent PK4 part-wheel:

Race 6: ALL (8)      Winner: 9

Race 7: 2-7-10-11  Winner: 2

Race 9: 4-9-11       Second: 9

Total: $144

RESULTS: Loss of $144

Mr. K's PLAY OF THE DAY FOR WEDNESDAY, APRIL 19, 2017

RACE 4: My best bet is half handicap/half hunch in this 2-year-old maiden race going 4-1/2 furlongs on the dirt. Vital is colt by Shanghai Bobby who was a fabulous at age two and very speedy. The connections are fantastic with owners' Tabor and Magnier, trainer Wes Ward, and 3-for-3 jockey Julio Garcia. There is only a single work showing on the tab and it was nothing to write home about but I'm sure there have plenty of unpublished works that aren't showing in the form. His morning-line of 5-2 is off as I see him going off more like 3-5.

THE BET: Race 4: $50 across the board on #7-Vital.

RESULTS: Led in the stretch, faltered. Loss of $150

Mr. K's LONGSHOT OF THE DAY FOR WEDNESDAY, APRIL 19, 2017

RACE 5: The 5-1/2 furlong turf-sprint is likely an ALL-button in the horizontal bets but I like 12-1 morning-line shot Heartspoke to prevail. Coming off the winter vacation, this filly makes her 2017 debut in a semi-class drop after running a solid 3rd in a Stakes race last August at Saratoga. In that race, Heartspoke clipped heals and still finished well hitting the board at 13-1. I look for trainer Larry Rivelli to have her cranked up and ready to roll agains a very tough field.

THE BET: Race 5: $20 across the board on #9-Heartspoke.

RESULTS: Toiled in the stretch. Loss of $60.

Mr. K's EARLY PICK-4 OF THE DAY FOR WEDNESDAY, APRIL 19, 2017

50-cent PK4 part-wheel:

Race 2: 6-7-8-9            Winner: 6

Race 3: 1-2-4-6-7-8-9  Winner: 6

Race 4: 3-6-7-9            Winner: 9

Race 5: 5-9                  Sixth: 9

Total: $112

RESULTS: Loss of $112

Mr. K's LATE PICK-4 OF THE DAY FOR WEDNESDAY, APRIL 19, 2017

50-cent PK4 part-wheel:

Race 5: 3-4-5-7-8-9-10-12 Winner: 3

Race 6: 1-3-5-6                  Winner: 1

Race 7: ALL (12)                Winner: 11

Race 8: 5                           Winner: 5

Total: $192

RESULTS: Winner! PK4 paid $380.90

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Mr. K's PLAY OF THE DAY FOR SATURDAY, APRIL 15, 2017

RACE 7: The Ben Ali goes 1-1/8th miles on the dirt. Trainer Brendan Walsh is already tearing up Keeneland winning at 29% and today he brings in Scuba to continue this son of Tapit's three race win streak. Scuba is a front-end runner that is shortening-up in his distance expectations today. He usually goes beyond today's distance so the cutback will be in his favor. Also favoring him is that rider Kendrick Carmouche will also make a trip to Lexington where he is 3-for-3 on Scuba. The odds are going to be attractive in this contentious affair.

THE BET: Race 7: $50 across the board on #4-Scuba.

RESULTS:The trend continues, Scuba finished dead last. Loss of $150.

Mr. K's LONGSHOT OF THE DAY FOR SATURDAY, APRIL 15, 2017

RACE 10: The Feature is the Grade-I Jenny Wiley and fans will get to see the phenomenal Lady Eli who has is 7 for 9 lifetime. However, one of her two defeats came at this distance of 1-1/16th miles which came three races back at Saratoga. I think she has some vulnerability today coming out of the 1-hole on the grass against some very tough opponents. Trained by Graham Motion, Quidura is lightly raced and has won 3 of her 4 lifetime starts. She is 1-for-1 at the distance and is making her first start off the winter layoff. Fabulous and regular jockey Junior Alvarado comes in to ride and only adds to the appeal of her 10-1 morning-line odds.

THE BET: Race 10: $20 across the board on #8-Quidura.

RESULTS: Quidura got up for the show dough. Bet $60, cashed for $54.

Mr. K's EARLY PICK-4 OF THE DAY FOR SATURDAY, APRIL 15, 2017

50-cent PK4 part-wheel:

Race 2: 2-3-6-7-8-9 Winner: 9

Race 3: ALL (7)       Winner: 2

Race 4: 1-2-4-5-9    Winner: 5

Race 5: 7                 Fifth: 7

Total: $105

RESULTS: Loss of $105

Mr. K's MIDDLE PICK-4 OF THE DAY FOR SATURDAY, APRIL 15, 2017

50-cent PK4 part-wheel:

Race 7: ALL (8)              Winner: 3

Race 8: 1-4-7-10-11-12  Winner: 7

Race 9: 4-5-6-10            Second: 10

Race 10: 1-8                  Second: 1

Total: $192

RESULTS: Loss of $192

Mr. K's LATE PICK-4 OF THE DAY FOR SATURDAY, APRIL 15, 2017

50-cent PK4 part-wheel:

Race 8: 1-4-7-10-11-12 Winner: 7

Race 9: 1-2-3-4-5-6-10 Winner: 3

Race 10: 1-7-8              Second: 1

Race 11: 4-8-11            Third: 8

Total: $189

RESULTS: Loss of $189

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Mr. K's PLAY OF THE DAY FOR FRIDAY, APRIL 14, 2017

RACE 4: This is the "other" turf-mile on today's card opposite the Maker's Mark Mile. Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott ships 4-year-old filly Wessex up from Florida to take on a field that has only won one lifetime start other than a maiden. This will be her second start off the layoff which should be much improved from her close 4th place finish last out at Gulfstream. Look for a stalking trip and a perfect ride by master grass-jock Jose Lezcano.

THE BET: Race 4: $50 across the board on #3-Wessex.

RESULTS:Wessex ran terribly. Loss of $150.

Mr. K's LONGSHOT OF THE DAY FOR FRIDAY, APRIL 14, 2017

RACE 7: A very competitive field runs in this 1-1/16th grass race. Trainer Mike Maker's Trophy Girl is coming off two straight wins at Turfway on the synthetic. This 4-year-old filly will have to step it up today to get her third in a row and I think she can do it. She has done nothing but improve both in her two starts this year as well as on the training track in the mornings. Always take a closer look when Maker enters a horse in a step-up in class situation, this generally means that he has a strong chance to win. Maker usually takes an opposite approach so I believe he feels he has a nice filly here in Trophy Girl at 15-1 morning-line odds.

THE BET: Race 7: $20 across the board on #4-Trophy Girl.

RESULTS: Trophy Girl was up front for most of the race until the cavalry charge. Loss of $60.

Mr. K's EARLY PICK-4 OF THE DAY FOR FRIDAY, APRIL 14, 2017

50-cent PK4 part-wheel:

Race 2: 3-6-7-8 Winner: 3

Race 3: 1-3-4    Winner: 4

Race 4: 3-9-10  Second: 10

Race 5: 3-6-8    Winner: 3

Total: $54

RESULTS: Loss of $54

Mr. K's LATE PICK-4 OF THE DAY FOR FRIDAY, APRIL 14, 2017

50-cent PK4 part-wheel:

Race 7: 1-3-4-5-6-7-8-10-11-12    Winner: 11

Race 8: 1-2-3-4-6-7-8-9                Winner: 9

Race 9: 1-4-7                                Seventh: 1

Race 10: 2-10                               Winner: 2

Total: $240

RESULTS: Tough luck loss. Loss of $240.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Mr. K's PLAY OF THE DAY FOR THURSDAY, APRIL 13, 2017

RACE 6: Most will scoff at this pick in such a tough race. Also, most will be down on my Best Bet yesterday that stunk it up so confidence in the followers is low. Thursday I really like the Graham Motion trained Spring Quality who is coming off a spectacular second place finish after being laid off for twelve months. The horse that beat this 5-year-old came back and won next time out which bodes well for this gelding who has had 60 days to recoup. The odds will be solid as this race is chalk full of contenders. The outside post will benefit him greatly in only his 4th lifetime start.

THE BET: Race 6: $50 across the board on #10-Spring Quality.

RESULTS: Spring Quality ran well early but faded late. Loss of $150

Mr. K's LONGSHOT OF THE DAY FOR THURSDAY, APRIL 13, 2017

RACE 8: The Grade III Appalachian features a tough 12-horse field loaded with quality 3-year-old fillies. This presents a prime opportunity for a longshot winner. Trainer James Toner is infamous for only bringing horses to Keeneland that are cranked up to win. Bellavais is a Tapit-filly that won last out in January at Gulfstream where she was smacked by another jockey's whip but still won. Now Toner ships her here where he wins 29% off the layoff and 31% when combined with jockey Johnny V. The 15-1 morning-line odds are sweet! I am all over this underlay in the Feature race of the day.

THE BET: Race 8: $20 across the board on #5-Bellavais.

RESULTS: Too much traffic made for a late fade in the stretch. Loss of $60.

Mr. K's EARLY PICK-4 OF THE DAY FOR THURSDAY, APRIL 13, 2017

50-cent PK4 part-wheel:

Race 2: 1-3-4-6-8      Winner: 6

Race 3: 2-3-4-5-8      Winner: 3

Race 4: 3-4-8-10-11  Winner: 11

Race 5: 7-11              Winner: 7

Total: $125

RESULTS: Winner! PK4 paid $342.45

Mr. K's LATE PICK-4 OF THE DAY FOR THURSDAY, APRIL 13, 2017

50-cent PK4 part-wheel:

Race 6: 3-5-6-8-10   Winner: 6

Race 7: 1-2-3-5-6-8  Winner: 1

Race 8: 1-2-5            Winner: 2

Race 9: 1-5               Third: 5

Total: $90

RESULTS: Loss of $90. The PK4 paid $553.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Mr. K's PLAY OF THE DAY FOR WEDNESDAY, APRIL 12, 2017

RACE 6: This 7-furlong sprint on the dirt is one of the more competitive contests on this light Wednesday card. Trainer Todd Pletcher has one of his best barns in recent memory although you can make a case that his barn is always tops in the game. Diamond Jim broke his maiden in his second start and last outing down at Gulfstream in a wire-job where he posted an 87 Beyer speed figure. Posting such a high fig warranted a two-month layoff where Pletcher wins at 22%. When he combines with jockey Johnny V he wins at an even more impressive 27%. Look for Pletcher's only runner of the day to go to the lead and never look back.

THE BET: Race 6: $50 across the board on #8-Diamond Jim.

RESULTS: A third to last finish is inexplicable. Loss of $150.

Mr. K's LONGSHOT OF THE DAY FOR WEDNESDAY, APRIL 12, 2017

RACE 5: In this dirt-route going 1-1/16th on the dirt, trainer Kenny McPeek starts a 4-year-old filly that last raced in October right here at Keeneland where she ran a dull fifth. Strangely, McPeek wintered her at Oaklawn Park but never started her there even though she worked very well over the Oaklawn surface. Now she ships back to Lexington where McPeek wins at 24% off the layoff. I am salivating over her 8-1 morning-line odds.

THE BET: Race 5: $20 across the board on #9-Dorodansa.

RESULTS: Good run for Dorodansa but bad 9th place finish. Loss of $60.

Mr. K's PLAY OF THE DAY FOR SUNDAY, APRIL 9, 2017

RACE 5: This is one of the cheaper Allowance races offered at Keeneland yet it is full of decent mid-level horse-flesh. Trainer Michelle Lovell is on a roll with Newfound Gold. This gelding has won 6 races in a row and now ships up from Louisiana to try to win a seventh on the Kentucky circuit. The class drop should make up for the extra 1/2-furlong in distance. This is my top selection of the day.

THE BET: Race 5: $50 across the board on #7-Newfound Gold.

RESULTS: SCRATCHED - NO BET

Mr. K's LONGSHOT OF THE DAY FOR SUNDAY, APRIL 9, 2017

RACE 8: Chaos usually reigns supreme in the Feature races at Keeneland as evidenced by Irap's victory in yesterday's Blue Grass Stakes. In today's Beaumont-G3, there will be not one but two heavy favorites in Sweet Loretta and Dancing Rags. Sine Wave is making a huge class jump and ships over from Parx where she won for fun in the second of her two starts. Now she comes of a February layoff and should relish the rest before facing much better. This daughter of Big Brown will be at her best in her third start. You may even get better than the 12-1 morning-line odds.

THE BET: Race 8: $20 across the board on #6-Sine Wave.

RESULTS: Sine Wave ran a fantastic race but was second best to favorite Sweet Loretta. However, Sine Wave paid $11.60 to place and $5.60 to show. Bet $60, cashed for $172.

Mr. K's PLAY OF THE DAY FOR SATURDAY, APRIL 8, 2017

RACE 6: This is the COMMONWEALTH-G3 which goes 7-furlongs on the dirt. This 9-horse field features the 2017 debut for A.P. Indian who comes of his 4th place finish to Drefong in the Breeders' Cup Sprint last November at Santa Anita ( I was there ). It's generally not a great bet to put your money on a horse first time back after a Breeders' Cup effort, but I'm making an exception today as A.P. Indian looks primed for a top performance today where he is 4 for 4 at the distance.

THE BET: Race 6: $50 across the board on #8-A.P. Indian.

RESULTS: A.P. Indian hung a bit late and got passed by Awesome Slew. Bet $150, cashed for $150.....a push.

Mr. K's LONGSHOT OF THE DAY FOR SATURDAY, APRIL 8, 2017

RACE 7: Maybe a daily double is in order as my best bet is followed by my longshot play today. The SHAKERTOWN-G2 goes 5-1/2 furlongs on the grass and it kicks off the second of three PK4's offered on Saturday. Trainer Wes Ward shipped Justin Squared to Kentucky after a 5th place finish at Santa Anita in December where he was previously trained by Bob Baffert. Since the trainer-switch, Ward seems to have Justin Squared primed for a top effort as he's been firing plenty of bullets in the morning over the past three months. This whole field is full of horses that have obstacles to overcome so I'm taking my chances on a 12-1 longshot.

THE BET: Race 7: $20 across the board on #4-Justin Squared.

RESULTS: Justin Squared ran admirably but finished a well-beaten 5th. Loss of $60.

Mr. K's PLAY OF THE DAY FOR FRIDAY, APRIL 7, 2017 (Opening Day)

RACE 3: This miler on the dirt for $80K looks like a tough field of six, but tough-luck trainer Paul McGee ships December Seven up from Louisiana where he looks to redeem himself as the beaten favorite last time out. This 4-year-old has gone beyond a mile for five straight races and now cuts back second time off the layoff where McGee wins at 29%. Look for December Seven to break on top and never look back.

THE BET: Race 3: $50 across the board on #5-December Seven.

RESULTS: WINNER! December Seven took the lead turning for home and was never passed. Bet $150, cashed for $310.

Mr. K's LONGSHOT OF THE DAY FOR FRIDAY, APRIL 7, 2017

Race 9: Friday's Feature race is the G3-Transylvania going 1-1/16th miles on the grass. Trainer Brad Cox is on fire winning at 27% in the first 3 months of the year and starts a 3-year-old colt in Cowboy Culture in his second graded race. This son of Quality Road was 3-for-3 before drawing a bad inside post last out in the Palm Beach at Gulfstream where he was shut down by the compromised post. The 8-post today will put him in the perfect position to stalk the leaders and win in the last couple of jumps. Cox wins at 33% off a month's rest and wins at 36% combined with super-turf-jock Florent Geroux. He'll go off less than his 10-1 morning-line but a win is a win.

THE BET: Race 9: $20 across the board on #8-Cowboy Culture.

RESULTS: Longshot Big Score won and Cowboy Culture never could get involved. Loss of $60.

Total: $81

Mr. K's LATE PICK-4 OF THE DAY FOR FRIDAY, APRIL 7, 2017
